More Jiu Jitsu… How to Make it All Fit Together

Fitting more Jiu Jitsu into your busy, every day life can be a challenge, but very possible with a little creativity. Ready to get creative??

It’s a circus-like juggling act, or maybe a train wreck…

Life’s “To Do” list can be long and treacherous. I’m sure I’m not the only one who wakes up bedraggled and still tired and chugs caffeine to achieve maximal normalcy. It’s impressive all we try to fit into a day: Going to work, building your life, growing a family, all while working on your personal development, building your relationships and friendships, your life goals, trying your best to meet those deadlines, go to the gym, get enough sleep, drink enough water, take your vitamins…

It’s a lot. And there isn’t always enough time. In fact, some might say – there is never enough time.

I say, let’s make the best of the time we have

Sometimes we have to get a little creative to fit Jiu-Jitsu into our crazy life. From including your significant other and family to checking out new gyms when you are on holiday, there are several ways to get more Jiu-Jitsu into your life.

Make it a Family Thing

There are a few tried and true ways to cram just a little bit more Jiu-Jitsu into your life. Since Jiu-Jitsu is great for fitness, mental health, and self-defense, those are some solid benefits the whole family can support and prosper from. Kids classes are available for all ages, and as we well know, it is never too late to start Jiu-Jitsu! Getting everyone involved is fun and a great opportunity to bond with your family. 

Date Night

Get a Gi lined up for your partner, and get ready to get sweaty!! It’s fun exercise, and you can learn together. A shared experience of Jiu-Jitsu allows you to better understand each other and gives you something to work on together. Growing together with a shared interest, whether it be an occasional date night idea or something you train together all of the time, it really strengthens your bond. Date night at the gym will give you, as a couple, an opportunity to meet new friends, create fun memories, and get exercise at the same time. 

Schedule Private Lessons With Your Professor

Looking into private lessons at your local gym is an excellent way to make Jiu-Jitsu work with your hectic schedule. Class times vary in different places, and sometimes work schedules don’t allow you to train as much as you would like. And if you are someone who trains Jiu-Jitsu and teaches it, maybe offering private lessons can be a chance for you to sharpen your skills while getting paid TO DO JIU-JITSU. Sounds like a Jiu-Jitsu dream come true. 

Hit up Jiu-Jitsu Hot Spots on Vacation

Imagine waking up in paradise, the breeze gently blowing through your hair, the sun casting its golden rays onto your face like God blessing you straight from that beautiful blue sky. You then breathe that fresh, fanciful vacation air and sip that perfectly percolated coffee as you get ready to go DO SOME JIU-JITSU. Google (insert current location here) + Jiu-Jitsu and *CLICK* – every Jiu-Jitsu gym near you. 

Keep your gym bag ready with a clean Gi in it, and you can be prepared to roll at all times. Vacation Jiu-Jitsu – yes. SPONTANEOUS vacation Jiu-Jitsu – DEFINITELY.

The truth is, it’s hard to fit it all in, and some days it doesn’t all get done. But in the chaos of our daily lives, Jiu-Jitsu is worth making time for, even if it’s just practicing some moves on the couch with your spouse while you wind down at the end of the day. Your schedule is busy, but Jiu-Jitsu is flexible – it can happen anytime, anywhere, and with anyone.
